Thomson Nyumbas |
|
Swahili for “home,”
Thomson Safaris Nyumbas are eco-friendly,
mobile camps that are strategically located in the Serengeti,
in Tarangire National Park and at Ngorongoro Crater. They
always offer exclusivity, scenic vistas and excellent access
to wildlife.
Designed exclusively for Thomson and by
Thomson, and based on over 27 years of experience, these comfortable
canvas bush homes allow you direct access to the wildlife
with all the amenities you need to feel comfortable during
your safari. Our conservation-minded approach also means that
the environment - both the wildlife and the landscape - is
not adversely affected by our stay.

Accommodations are simple, yet comfortable and elegant.
Spacious, walk-in tents feature locally crafted decor, solar-powered
lighting*, fine-mesh screened windows, verandah and private
en-suite bathroom.
Please note that because these are mobile and environmentally
friendly camps, they do not have fixed plumbing.
Still, you will have all you need with hot showers any time
of day, private dressing area, sinks with water basins,
and ingenious, water-saving, self-contained flush toilets.
There are no noisy generators or light pollution in these
eco-friendly camps, leaving you free to enjoy endless fresh
air, beautiful night skies and the exotic sounds of the
thriving eco-system around you.
Insatiable is not sustainable!
We’ve drawn the line at certain extravagances
that are simply not necessary on safari and do not fit our
idea of Sustainable Luxury. You won’t find chandeliers
or air conditioning or even fixed plumbing at our Nyumbas.
You will find soft, cozy bedding, privacy, handcrafted
Tanzanian-made décor, excellent service from an attentive
staff, exclusive locations and delicious meals. We believe
there is no better base from which to explore the wildlife
and landscapes of Tanzania.

Imagine yourself at your Nyumba, enjoying the smells,
sights and sounds of the African wilderness.
Awake in the morning to the cooing of the African dove, the
fresh scent of earth and grass and the possibilities of what
the day may hold. After lunch, rest in the shade on your private
verandah and watch zebra graze in the distance, or a weaverbird
busily building its home in a nearby tree.
Before dinner, sip a glass of wine by a campfire
under the canopy of millions of stars...

Meals
are always wonderful; they are prepared from fresh, local
produce by our expert chefs and feature a wide variety of
options from freshly baked breads and homemade soups to
delicious salads and tempting desserts. You will enjoy dining
with your safari companions in an elegant canvas dining room.
