Our Thomson Safaris guide Charles was amazing, and so universally respected; having him lead the trip felt like being with a living legend. The staff of the Tarangire Nyumba even performed an impromptu dance after dinner to celebrate Leela’s birthday. It was so entertaining and thoughtful.
I am not certain if anyone really knows what to expect on a safari until they have experienced one. Whatever our expectations were, I believe they were exceeded. Every encounter with the Thomson Safaris personnel was very personal, friendly, and focused on our welfare and enjoyment. We are a fairly private family and the solitude of the Thomson Safaris choice of areas was fully appreciated.
Every morning the Thomson Safaris vehicles were fresh, clean, and stocked with plenty of water and snacks. The drivers even found anything we left behind and returned it. Best of all, the guides told us we had a “lucky safari,” since we saw leopards, cheetahs, serval, rhinoceros, lions, and flamingos, plus many other magnificent animals and birds.
This was truly the best experience we've ever had with any type of travel company. Thomson definitely pays attention to the details—little things, like umbrellas in the tents and hot water bottles in our beds at night —which goes a long way. And it’s clear that Thomson Safaris treats their Tanzania staff well; we noticed, and it was important to us.
