Penny and I noticed early on that our grandchildren were totally engaged and uncharacteristically well behaved. It seemed they left their sibling rivalries at home for the whole trip. Their parents were amazed as were we, but we enjoyed every minute.
The cultural component was so important to me in choosing a trip to Tanzania, and Thomson Safaris does a great job with the Cultural Safari. There was a nice mix of wildlife and culture. Everyday was very special and I love how you give back to the people of Tanzania and employ people born in Tanzania.
I loved the cultural interaction and learned much about the people and their way of life. I was very moved by how welcoming everyone was, and it felt genuine. I even had an opportunity to meet everyone in the Arusha office. Very cool! All were so welcoming and shared my excitement.
I loved our guide, Mbaruku, and his sense of humor. I felt very safe. He provided new wonders every day. I have also found a friend!
I am a bit sad that the trip is over and I shed a few tears of happiness when I got to Tanzania and tears of sadness when I left. Everyday brought a special sight, experience, or a moment shared with the people. It was truly a life changing adventure. Thomson Safaris is amazing and made my life dream of coming to Africa extra special!

We had an absolutely outstanding time on our trip to Tanzania and Rwanda, in large part because of our incredible Thomson guide in Tanzania, Mustafa Juma.
We’ve been fortunate enough to travel to 67 different countries, and have taken dozens of guided tours. We can honestly say that Mustafa is without question the finest tour guide we’ve ever had. His depth of knowledge of the animals, birds, and plant life was amazing, as was his knowledge about Tanzania’s history and culture. He went out of his way to ensure that our visit was the best it could be. We always knew where we were going and what we should expect, and we always felt safe.
Mustafa’s warmth, patience, and knowledge were everything we could hope for in a guide. He made us feel like the most important clients he, and Thomson, had ever had!
Thanks to Mustafa, and to everyone at Thomson, for making our trip so outstanding. We had extremely lofty expectations going in, and they were far exceeded.

I feel so blessed to have been able to experience Africa in such comfort and good cheer!
Every morning the vehicles were fresh, clean, and stocked with plenty of water and snacks. The drivers even found anything we left behind and returned it. Best of all, the guides told us we had a “lucky safari,” since we saw leopards, cheetahs, serval, rhinoceros, lions, and flamingos, plus many other magnificent animals and birds.
The accommodations were much more luxurious than I expected, and the staff at each camp are friendly and gracious. They seem happy to be providing good service. Gibbs Farm was a particular treat – I wanted to do all the activities!
Our guides, Charles, Mohammed, and Phanuel, were exceptional.
One particularly special moment: I had a persistent cough that was bothering me. Phanuel told the camp staff, and Hussein made me a special ginger tea that was delicious and helpful. Things like this made me feel pampered and spoiled the whole time!

I was overwhelmed with the level of service and attention to detail. Thanks to all of the Thomson Safaris crew members and guides: excellent staff who took very good care of us.
Gibbs Farm was a special treat for us! Luxurious and comfy. I would highly recommend this trip to others. The vehicles rode very comfortably considering some of the roads and were kept exceptionally clean.
This trip was the dream of a lifetime.
