Day 1-2
Depart U.S. / Arrive Arusha


Connect in Amsterdam with your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, arriving late evening. You will be met by Thomson Safaris staff and transferred to your lodge. We can arrange your international flights, please call for competitive pricing and availability.

Day 3
Arusha / Tarangire National Park


Today you will depart Arusha, traveling southwest through the Maasai Steppe to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania's fourth largest.

  • Picnic lunch
  • Afternoon wildlife viewing in Tarangire National Park
  • Overnight: Thomson Tarangire Nyumba
 
 

Day 4
Tarangire National Park


Spend another day in Tarangire National Park, viewing some of Tanzania’s largest populations of elephant and enjoying the diverse scenery, including the dramatic baobab trees that are so typical of the park.

Day 5
Ngorongoro Crater


The Ngorongoro Crater is a geological marvel boasting several vegetation zones, including lakes, forest, and savannah. It is also home to about 30,000 animals despite its tiny size of only ten miles across. Many Maasai call the Ngorongoro Conservation Area home - keep an eye out for the red cloth of the herdsmen dotting the landscape as you make your way through this area.

Day 6
Ngorongoro Crater


Take advantage of your optimally located Nyumba and spend the day on the crater floor searching out lion, hippo, the rare black rhino, hyena, wildebeest, zebra, African buffalo and much more.

  • Full day of wildlife viewing on the floor of Ngorongoro Crater
  • Overnight: Thomson Ngorongoro Nyumba
 
 

Day 7
Serengeti National Park


After breakfast, continue your journey into the heart of Tanzania by heading west, toward the Serengeti Plains.

  • Brief stop at Olduvai Gorge
  • Picnic lunch in the park
  • Afternoon wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park
  • Overnight: Thomson Serengeti Nyumba
 
 

Day 8
Serengeti National Park


Relish in the vastness of the Serengeti, "the land that flows on forever," along with some of the best wildlife viewing that Africa has to offer. Relax at camp this afternoon or take an optional walk to the nearby village of Robanda.

  • Morning wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park
    (if you have advance reservations, make an early departure for your hot-air balloon excursion today)
  • Optional village visit

Day 9
Serengeti National Park


Enjoy another day of wildlife viewing from a second location deep in the Serengeti. Home to literally hundreds of thousands of hoofed animals, the Serengeti is a pristine and unique sanctuary that will give you a glimpse into “the world as it was in the beginning.”

Day 10
Serengeti National Park


Spanning nearly 6,000 square miles, the Serengeti has even more to offer you today. With your skilled guides at the helm, the wildlife viewing promises to be interesting on this last day of your adventure in the bush.

Day 11
Serengeti / Arusha / Depart


Depart the Serengeti on a scenic flight late this morning arriving in Arusha in time for a farewell lunch, some shopping and a dayroom to prepare for your flight home this evening.

  • Flight from the Serengeti to Arusha (33lbs baggage maximum)
  • Farewell lunch in Arusha
  • Dayroom in Arusha
  • Transfer to the International Airport for your flight home
 
 

Day 12
Arrive U.S.


Connect in Amsterdam and arrive in the U.S. Please check your flight itinerary for arrival dates and flight details.
