Day 1-2
Depart North America / Arrive Arusha


Connect in Amsterdam with your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, arriving late evening. You will be met by Thomson Safaris staff and transferred to your lodge. We can arrange your international flights, please call for competitive pricing and availability.

Day 3
Private Nature Refuge


Depart after breakfast on a flight to the easterm Serengeti. Continue your journey into the remote wilderness of Tanzania by heading to a private nature refuge, an exclusive area for Thomson guests, in the Serengeti ecosystem. Here, you will venture out to the first of many excursions in the bush.

Day 4
Private Nature Refuge


This remote and pristine region is a private wilderness area - its unique geography, and its location outside the park make it a perfect destination for discerning guests who wish to enjoy a true wilderness and exploration experience. Learn more about the Maasai culture as you visit their homes and a women's collaborative.

Day 5
Private Nature Refuge


Revel in the exclusivity of your stay in this private refuge. Walk far and wide searching for wildlife, follwing tracks and enjoying the scenic beauty around you.

  • Gather around the campfire to listen to traditional folklore from a Maasai storyteller

Day 6
Serengeti National Park


Drive to Serengeti National Park, home to literally hundreds of thousands of hoofed animals. This pristine and unique sanctuary will give you a glimpse into “the world as it was in the beginning.”

Day 7
Serengeti National Park


Relish in the vastness of the Serengeti, "the land that flows on forever," along with some of the best wildlife viewing that Africa has to offer. Relax at camp this afternoon or take an optional walk to the nearby village of Robanda.

Day 8
Serengeti National Park


Spanning nearly 6,000 square miles, the Serengeti has even more to offer you today. With your skilled guides at the helm, the game viewing promises to be interesting on this last day of your adventure in the Serengeti ecosystem.

Day 9
Ngorongoro Crater


Make your way from the Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater, a geological marvel boasting several vegetation zones from lakes to forest to savannah. It is home to about 30,000 animals, despite its tiny size of only 10 miles across.

Day 10
Ngorongoro Crater


You will have a front row seat to observe some of the densest wildlife concentrations on earth during your wildlife viewing drive on Ngorongoro's Crater floor.

Day 11
Maasailand


This morning travel to Empakaai Crater, where you will hike down onto its floor and explore the shores of its flamingo-lined lake. There are no roads and no tourists, and you'll be enthralled by this quiet, magical place. Return to the rim in a rigerous ascent which promises stunning panoramic views.

Day 12
Maasailand


Take a step back in time today during this full day of hiking through the remote and historic Maasailand. Your Maasai walking guide will lead you down into the Rift Valley where few travelers have ventured - enjoy the exclusivity of these remote lands.

  • Full day of trekking through Maasailand
  • Overnight: Acacia Camp
 
 

Day 13
Great Rift Valley


Walk for several hours through this beautiful setting, with Ol Doinyo Lengai in the background. Complete the final, dramatic descent from atop the Great Escarpment to the floor of the Rift Valley. At nearby Lake Natron, guides and drivers will meet you and take you to a relaxing retreat.

  • Half day of hiking
  • Picnic lunch at the scenic Lake Natron
  • Walk to a waterfall

Day 14
Great Rift Valley / Arusha / Depart


Depart for Arusha this morning, arriving in time for a farewell lunch, some shopping and a dayroom to prepare for your flight home this evening.
