"We all agreed the Tanzania Wildlife and Walking Safari was the best trip we'd ever been on. Simply amazing! The country, the animals, the people, the food were all wonderful." - T.R. Baxter, Chiefland, FL

Days 1-2  Depart U.S. / Arrive Arusha

Upon your evening arrival in Arusha, you are met by your guide and transferred to your beautiful lodge just outside of Arusha. The working coffee plantation provides a scenic and relaxing backdrop to ease you into your first days in Africa.

Overnight: Mountain Village Lodge

Days 3-6  Serengeti National Park

We fly to the Serengeti this morning to begin our wildlife viewing amidst the unspoiled wilderness of the Serengeti, where giraffe, elephant, warthog, antelope, wildebeest (and so many more!) roam freely over the short grass plains.

We may have the opportunity for bush walks directly from our well-situated Classic Camp. To maximize game viewing opportunities, we will spend 3 nights classic camping in the central Serengeti and 1 night in a luxury safari lodge further south.

We'll explore far and wide over the next 4 days before heading west to Ngorongoro Crater.

All meals included
Overnights: 3 nights Classic Camping, 1 night Ndutu Safari Lodge

Days 7-8  Ngorongoro Crater

We proceed by Land Rover to the extraordinary Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the "Eighth Wonder ofthe World."

You will have a front row seat to observe some of the densest wildlife concentrations on earth in this tiny, 10-mile wide collapsed caldera. Traveling along seldom-used roads, we'll camp along the crater, and we may have the opportunity to meet some of the local Maasai who live nearby.

The next day, we will have a full day on the crater floor, with the possibility of an early morning or afternoon hike to Olmoti Crater.

All meals included
Overnights: Thomson Classic Camp

Days 9-10  Empakaai Crater / Rift Valley Escarpment

Today, we'll continue further into the volcanic highlands to set up our camp high on the rim of Empakaii Crater.

From our 10,000 foot high vantage point, we'll enjoy incredible views of nearby volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai (the Maasai "Mountain of God") and, if it's very clear, the alluring snows of Kilimanjaro, 100 miles distant.

We'll hike through verdant forest into Empakaai Crater where we will explore the shores of the flamingo lined lake. There are no roads and no tourists, and you'll be enthralled by this quiet, magical place.

We hike back up to our camp on the crater rim to spend a quiet night under the stars before the next leg of our journey.

Our gear will be loaded onto donkeys, and the next morning, we'll leave Empakaai to begin our gradual descent down the Rift Valley escarpment, passing through the small Maasai village of Naiobi.

We proceed on foot, interacting with any of the Maasai who use these trails as they tend their cattle, and later this afternoon, we reach our campsite amidst picturesque acacia trees.

All meals included
Overnights: 1 night Empakaai Adventure Camp, 1 night Acacia Adventure Camp

Day 11  Lake Natron

We'll head down the Rift Valley escarpment in the shadow of Ol Doinyo Lengai and set up camp near the saline shores of Lake Natron.

This remote area is home to many Maasai tribespeople who tend their livestock on the rolling hills. We'll see their traditional houses, perhaps visit a school, or even try to milk a Maasai cow!

The landscape here is a dramatic mix of sweeping golden plains and volcanic highlands, and Lake Natron is unlike any lake you have ever seen.

From our camp nestled at the foot of the escarpment, we'll take a walk to an exquisite, palm-lined gorge, a surprising and beautiful oasis.

All meals included
Overnight: Lake Natron Adventure Camp

Days 12-13  E Unoto Retreat

After saying goodbye to our faithful donkey caravan, we continue southward by Land Rover, toward Lake Manyara.

We'll stay at a beautiful lodge where the crisp white sheets and down comforters will be a welcome luxury after our nights of camping in the remotest wilds. We have the opportunity for bike rides or walks from the comfort of our lodge.

All meals included
Overnights: Eunoto Retreat

Days 14-15  Arusha / Depart

We'll depart for Arusha today where you will be able to freshen up and relax before your flight home. Take a swim or do some last minute souvenir shopping before being transferred to the airport in the evening.

Breakfast, lunch
Dayroom: Arusha Lodge
