ACCLIMATIZATION DAY AT NDARAKWAI RANCH (Cultivated Zone)
Warm up with leisurely nature hikes through this private conservation area, where you'll have a chance to spot elephant, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, baboon, and monkey.
Overnight: Ndarakwai Ranch (4,200’)
BEGIN TREK TO FOREST CAMP (Rainforest)
As you trek through the lush rainforest landscape, listen to the hundreds of different birdcalls and the cries of the black-and-white Colobus monkeys swinging through the trees overhead.
Overnight: Forest Camp (9,281’)

FOREST CAMP TO SHIRA 1 CAMP (Rainforest-Heath)
Journey past ancient volcanic rocks draped in bearded lichen. Trek well above the tree line and across the Shira Plateau, catching your first views of the summit high above.
Overnight: Shira 1 Camp (11,499’)

SHIRA 1 TO SHIRA 2 CAMP (Heath)
During an acclimatization day on the Shira Plateau, you can hike to the top of Shira Cathedral, the highest point on Kili’s western shoulder.
Overnight: Shira 2 Camp (12,795’)

SHIRA 2 TO LAVA TOWER CAMP (Heath-Alpine Desert)
Colossal boulders take the place of vegetation in this striking, lunar landscape. Before settling in for the evening, take a moment to admire the extraordinary Lava Tower rock formation.
Overnight: Lava Tower Camp (15,213’)

LAVA TOWER TO KARANGA CAMP (Alpine Desert-Heath)
Scale the Barranco Wall, where you'll have extraordinary views of Kili's glaciers sparkling above the clouds. Then head back down to a lower altitude camp to help you acclimatize before your summit bids.

KARANGA TO BARAFU CAMP (Heath-Alpine Desert)
You'll hike a meandering trail through sparse, chilly landscapes before a steady ascent to Barafu Camp, dramatically located on an exposed ridge.
Overnight: Barafu Camp (15,331’)
Hours trekking: 3-4
BARAFU TO CRATER CAMP (Alpine Desert-Arctic Zone)
Just as dawn breaks, you set out for the glacier zone atop Kilimanjaro. Climbing roughly 3,000 feet today, you’ll have countless opportunities to marvel at Mawenzi, Kili’s second volcanic cone. At Stella Point, continue about an hour on easy terrain for an afternoon summit. Stand at Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa – when you may be the only group there. Take time to celebrate with your fellow trekkers, and snap once-in-a-lifetime photos before descending to your next camp, overnighting in the crater’s soft sands.

CRATER CAMP TO SUMMIT TO MWEKA MILLENNIUM CAMP (Arctic Zone-Heath)
After breakfast explore the glaciers and ash pit in the crater, or summit for a second time! Trek out of the glacier zone and down into the alpine desert before descending to your final camp for your last night on the mountain.
Overnight: Mweka Millennium Camp (12,500’)
Hours trekking: 1-2 to summit/4-7 to Mweka Millennium Camp
COMPLETE TREK AND TRAVEL BACK TO ARUSHA
Enjoy your final day of trekking through thick forests to the park gate, where you’ll bid farewell to your guides and porters. Transfer to your lodge to take a well-earned shower and rest before continuing on your safari.

TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Depart Arusha for Tarangire, Tanzania’s fourth largest park and one of the best places to view enormous elephant herds. Relax at your private Nyumba Camp, set amongst the park’s dramatic baobab trees. Enjoy delicious dinners and nights around the campfire, under the brilliant stars.
Overnights: Tarangire Nyumba
Drive towards the Great Rift Valley, into the verdant highlands. Enter into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stop at a Maasai boma to learn more about this unique culture. Continue on to your Nyumba which is on the crater rim, with time to enjoy a snack before dinner. Because of this camp’s special location, you have a short drive down to the crater floor and more time to marvel at the highest concentrations of animals in East Africa. Take photos of lion and leopard, zebra and wildebeest, hippo and flamingo, and old bull elephants.
Overnights: Ngorongoro Nyumba
SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Drive west, stopping at Olduvai Gorge to learn more about this historic archeological site. Continue on to the Serengeti where you’ll traverse the vast plains teeming with wildlife. See lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, elephant, rhino, hippo, giraffe, zebra and the famous wildebeest migration. Enjoy your evenings in the bush, in beautiful, remote and exclusive Nyumba Camps.
Join an optional hot air balloon ride to take in sweeping views of the Serengeti from above. (Advanced reservations and additional fees apply).

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK TO ARUSHA AND RETURN TO NORTH AMERICA
Take a scenic flight back to Arusha this morning where you'll enjoy a special farewell lunch and time for souvenir shopping. Relax in your day room before an evening transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for the flight to Amsterdam.
